I believe in starting with a challenge and going through a design process grounded in empathy and iteration to explore possible solutions. Having the flexibility to experiment and explore a range of different ideas, I choose to follow the route best suited to solve the problem at hand.
Below are some of the projects I have worked on this year! To see more of my work, check out bennysouto.com
Connection is a game designed to help players build deeper connections, get to know each other better and strengthen their friendships. It was designed as part of a mental health campaign to help tackle loneliness through gameplay.
Connection is a connect-the-dots game, where players draw different question cards, with different levels of difficulty that relate to how personal the questions are. For each question answered, the player will get a token that tells them which dots to connect. In this way, all players are working together towards revealing the picture whilst sharing and building their relationship in the process.
I wish… is a generative design project, where users input their birthday wishes, along with other information related to their birthday, into a website in order to create a unique, personalised token that will reflect their wishes.
This token could be used as a reminder of their wish or their birthday, perhaps even acting as motivation to pursue that wish. The tokens could be produced and used in a number of different ways, in order to create a truly personalised experience, where the object reflects the way each person would like to keep or use it the most.
The project consists of a generative website, where a token is generated, of 3D objects of different tokens which represent different wishes, and a silver screen-printed poster to present the rules of the generative process.
