Lili-Anne Cooper

Lili-Anne Cooper is a graphic designer who specialises in editorial design, animation and illustration. Their favourite part of the creative process is brainstorming and sketching as it's the part when they can just let their brain take a brief and run with it.
Colour is Lili’s best friend and she loves incorporating unusual colour schemes into her work and she also doesn't think she's fooling anyone by writing in the third person like this.

PURE CLASS.

This was a location based project based on two locations, comparing and contrasting them. I found Portland Road and decided to base my work on the north and south points of the street. I noticed the staggering income disparity between the residents at opposite sides of the same road. There was no communication between the sides of the road. I gathered quotes from residents and wanted to display them to the road, then create a pathway for the community to begin understanding each other.
The way I designed this work to be displayed to the street was as lamppost banners. They would be double sided so the residents could see different quotes walking up the street. The quote from the south side (red) would be facing the north and the quote from the north (purple) can be seen from the south side.

BORN IN 2013 – AESTHETICS IN 2035.

I took a 15 year jump into the future and I wondered what a graphic designer in 2035 would be making. I created artefacts that show my prediction of what aesthetics will look like in the future. Specifically thinking about it in the context of the new youth and what parts of their lives would be affected by this aesthetic.
I imagine these human artefacts being displayed in the apartment of a 22 year old student. These include posters, flyers and books that focus on topics including anti-consumerism, environmentalism and work/life balance.
The style has bright colours to contrast with the incoming climate issues such as the grand solar minimum and the big freeze. The style is also messy and worn to imply the paper has be printed over several times and all prints are used, included misprints. This is to ensure there is no more paper waste than necessary.

SEMIOTIC MIXTAPE.

These are the outcomes from a project I did creating visualisations based on the song 'Hand Springs' by the White Stripes. I extracted data from the song using different aspects of the lyrics and music and then using these data points created this imagery.
