System Hacker

This publication is a record and celebration of work produced by year two students during the System Hacker project on GMD at LCC. The workshops were an opportunity to activate thinking through physical actions- deconstructionsand reconstructions, subtractions then juxtapositions undertaken as a response to pre-printed material brought to the sessions.

These actions enabled students to engage and analyse graphic visual system by a process of disassemblage, then offered the opportunity to create and invent new meanings and sequences by rebuilding with these seemingly random elements.

As a process, the sessions were intense and lively-there was a focus on physical actions and interventions. The intention was to allow ideas to materialise thorough conscious actions which often fed subconscious responses.
