The NY—LON cultural exchange was an opportunity for students from across UAL to collaborate with students from New York and the Shawn Carter Foundation (Jay-Z). Several Graphic and Media Design students were involved in the initial stages of the project. GMD Lecturer Alistair McClymont reports back:

“We worked with a brief from the Ford Motor Company and the students had free reign to develop a project that engaged with the brand. Over the course of the project experts from a variety of companies came to speak to the students at LCC, helping them to develop professional skills. The project culminated with the American students spending a week at LCC with a designer from Vault 49 for an intensive week of creation. The week after, the students flew to New York and worked alongside the team at Vault 49 to complete the brief and create a presentation for Ford. The students got professional guidance from the experts at Vault 49 ranging from marketing to screen printing. The end of the week saw the students present to Ford and the Shawn Carter Foundation.

The NY—LON exchange was a fantastic opportunity to learn and engage with cross-practice disciplines, a few students are able to travel to New York, but a much larger number were able to engage with the sessions in London and continued to work alongside the team from the UK.”
