Anis Ghebache

Hi, I'm a London-based 3D artist whose skills and passions lie in surrealist art and storytelling.

Having used Cinema 4D from a young age, I enjoy using it as a base to explore different artistic techniques and possibilities within the visual experience. My love for science fiction and a keen interest in psychology are the foundation behind the submissions below.

A Fractured Field

The industry practice module helped inspire an exploration into the commonalities of computer science, art and psychology. Being granted more control over a project like this really allowed me to pursue an area that I found intruiging.

My aim within this project brief was to investigate the different types of AI, the way they operate, and their applications within the artistic world.

A combination of Ebsynth and Google's Deepdream, this experimental piece was what helped steer my work moving forward.

Nvidia's GauGAN recreates landscapes through machine learning, this experimental clip shows an attempt to superimpose and track a GAN-generated tree in a park.

A Fractured Field is the final culmination of my research and experimentation, the field is fed frame-by-frame into the AI to produce this dreamlike landscape, creating this unique and unsettling visual experience. 'Integrity' by shimmer plays as the world devolves into chaos.

The Uncanny

The creepy, the uncanny, the eerie. Emotions surrounding these phenomena are universal and, through visual cues and techniques, are replicable. Within this project, I search for instances in which the uncanny manifests, documenting the process and producing a set of videos using what I had learned.

A skull pushes through the bedroom wall. With a found-footage aesthetic and little context to seed intrigue, this experimental clip helped in inspiring the theme of my final submission.

Artbreeder was the generative adversarial network of choice in the making of this clip.

A scene that plays on the TV, made using an old video of the inside of my secondary school.

The Caretaker's rendition of Al Bowlly's 'heartaches' is the song of choice as we are taken with the character on a journey into their last moments of lucidity. Small, obscure details incite interpretation into the real meaning behind this short animated film.
