Okay, love you, bye.

As a love letter to my female friendships, ‘Okay, love you, bye’ captures the significance of platonic love which despite often being overlooked, can be one of the most valuable, reliable and consistent relationships within our lives.

The dream-like narrative, combining real voice-notes and mixed media visuals, authentically captures the essence of friendship, by reflecting on specific memories as if from my personal perspective. Blending VHS footage with mono-printed animation frames creates the sense that the video is an insight into my thoughts, feelings and memories; the footage showing snippets of strong visual memories and then the animations filling the gaps when they become less clear.

Sisterhood

‘Sisterhood’ is an experimental dual typeface, inspired by mine and my sister‘s contrasting handwriting styles, exploring our close relationship. The typefaces‘ two axis, ‘Big Sis’ and ‘Lil Sis’ represents the duality of our personalities. The contrasting letterforms come together to create interchangeable pairings which despite their differences work harmoniously, much like our relationship.

The spiral bound type specimen‘s spreads are split, creating variability and allowing the viewer to explore the contents in different combinations, much like the typeface. The combination of image and typography reinforces the personal story behind ‘Sisterhood’ and printing on the RISO adds a rustic feel, reminiscent of the quirks of personal handwriting.

Get Real

‘Get Real’ is a campaign created for Mind charity in collaboration with GMD peers Bethany Martin and Melanie Petkova, which addresses the negative impact that toxic beauty standards can have on young women’s mental health. Designed to empower Gen Z women, aged 18-26, to open up conversation and ‘get real’ with others about how they are feeling, rather than focusing on how they look.

The campaign’s inclusive social media movement re-purposes the popular #GRWM trend to promote a more feelings-focused approach to start the trend of talking using the #getREALwithme instead. Additionally the message is also promoted through other relevant platforms such as animated podcast shorts, interactive community engagement opportunities and out of home branding.
