Ethan Muscat

Biography

Welcome, I’m Ethan! A graphic designer based in London with a passion for design, pop culture and fashion. My design interests include branding and editorial design – I like to experiment with different layouts that keep the viewer engaged, using my particular eye for detail and refinement.

Having completed an internship for a luxury fashion brand, I realised combining my passions will enable me to work in the fashion industry and be passionate about the work I was producing. I took this into my final year with me and was able to create three beautiful projects that highlight different aspects of my personality.

SZN

SZN is fashion brand concept I've created for a self-initiated project, the brand incorporates elements from the appropriate season into the clothing. This project blends three of my passions together, brand design, photography and fashion, which allowed me to create a look-book showing off all the products due to release over the next seasonal period.

All the assets used in the clothing and branding are images I've taken over the past four years, utilising imagery that could've been forever lost in the archive of SD cards, to create unisex inclusive clothing for all shapes and sizes to wear and show off.

PRIDE@HOME

For the Mainstage brief, we were asked to create branding for an event or festival of our choice. Being an out and proud gay man, I knew I wanted to create a Pride festival suitable to the current climate amidst the ongoing pandemic – birthing "PRIDE@HOME", an online Pride festival dedicated to bringing viewers together through a virtual space featuring world-renowned performers and like-minded people.

Each ticket purchase comes with a "PRIDE@HOME Festival Kit" featuring all the essentials for a happy Pride; face-paints, stickers, temporary tattoos, whistles and a Pride flag, to help you get into the spirit of Pride.

F.E.D.

F.E.D. is a publication that focuses on the Editorial Design in VOGUE magazine. Using images from the UAL archives, I was able to analyse the different design aspects that each Editor-in-Chief bought to the covers of the iconic magazine, whilst conducting my own research into the different types of editorial design choices featured in spreads in more recent issues.

The publication is split into three sections; The History, detailing all the Editor-in-Chiefs from launch to present day; The Covers, analysing the design choices on the covers of the publication throughout history; The Spreads, recreating three common layout spreads seen in modern day VOGUE and analysing them.
