Each year, food waste produces 1/3 of all greenhouse gas emissions, and about 50% of all food waste worldwide happens at the level of the consumer. In order to reduce household food waste and shift neglectful behaviours surrounding food, I have generated a conceptual app, Food for Thought. A sustainable service intended to be used regularly by consumers – Food for Thought allows users to track their groceries, scan fresh produce for ripeness and storage information and search for compost and food recycling locations.

Research from my dissertation in which I explored female protagonists in video games evidenced that women make up less than 25% of the game development industry, which is to blame for the lack of diverse female characters within many video game narratives. To continue the exploration of this issue, I have created Heroines in Gaming, an event to raise awareness of the gender imbalance within the video game industry and create a safe, collaborative space to celebrate the presence of woman in gaming.

Studies show that charitable organisations led by marginalised groups only receive a fraction of donations worldwide. With the aim of empowering a younger generation of people who currently only make up 2% of the giving pile, I have created a Coactive – a conceptual third party app which enables users to donate to BIPOC and women led charitable organisations, campaigns and fundraisers within the UK. The aim of the app is to inspire users to incorporate generosity into their everyday lives through an efficient and personalised user journey which includes quick donate buttons, category searches and personal donation tools.
