Iqbal Hasan

Hi, my name is Iqbal Hasan. My area of focus is visual communication design and I work on projects ranging from visual identity to moving graphics. I am interested in working in a studio that supports this way of working. This past year, I have been developing my skills in augmented reality, UX design and visualising sound through graphics which is demonstrated in my projects.

Let's Sign BSL

The aim of this project was to create a visual editorial design to teach those who are willing to learn British Sign Language (BSL). I produced a dynamic reworking of the use of figurative designs with expanded use of facial expressions, skin tone and gender to produce something much more culturally inclusive.

Closed Captions: Does it really tell us everything?

In this project, I was able to explore the different ways that media platforms present closed captioning. I explained why closed captioning is not detailed enough for deaf and hard of hearing people. I also illustrated how closed captioning should ideally be presented in media platforms, and how it would help the deaf and hard of hearing people feel connected with what they are watching. Not only is closed captioning used for those who are deaf, it also assists people with Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) and Discrimination Hearing Loss as they tend to struggle to hear small sounds that may sound the same, hence why close captioning is imperative for them.
