Biography

Hi! My name is Joanna (Asia) and I'm a Multidisciplinary Designer ™ with a special interest in 3D design, typography and editorial. In my work, I enjoy tackling design challenges with an experimental and playful approach.
During my placement year, I gained design experience in a creative consultancy in Berlin and after graduating I'd love to work for a close-knit multidisciplinary design studio.

Arcadia Microfestival

This project is developed in collaboration with Patricia Nunez. Arcadia is a multidisciplinary forward-thinking event for innovative creation with an emphasis on showcasing artists from underrepresented communities. The identity draws inspiration from classical concepts of Locus Amoenus, involving an idealized place of safety and comfort. Arcadia is a mysterious, utopian place full of mythical creatures living together in peace and harmony.

Arcadia Microfestival consists of a series of events which take place over 2 days. It involves a combination of creative workshops led by local artists and designers throughout the day and sound performances and DJ sets in the evenings.

For this project, I developed a custom logotype and icons. The logotype is built from a star-like shape. The main symbol of the project is the butterfly, which has been created by duplicating and joining the first letter of the festival — "A". Combined with the imagery generated by training the AI using pictures from our camera rolls, it creates a unique and organic festival identity.

Although it started only as a concept, Arcadia Microfestival is soon to be held in real life in one of the local South London venues — date to be confirmed.

A Walk Through the (Un)Familiar

A Walk Through the unFamiliar is a publication documenting and celebrating the rich and unique visual character of Rye Lane and its surroundings.

Inspired by everyday life and the close-knit community microsystem of the Lane, I aimed to present the well-known, bustling street with a fresh eye, extracting and zooming in on the elements I found particularly interesting.
