Biography

Hello, I’m Jody.

I’m a 22-year-old designer whose passion for design is driven by my curiosity for the world around me. Specialising in design and branding with a strong focus on animation, my practice aims to bring a story or meaning to life. I like to use my artistic skills to generate a raw exploration of feeling and emotion, inspired by the abstraction within my surroundings, dreams, shapes and colours. I decided to focus a lot of my work in my final year on bringing the unknown to life, showcasing the power of illustration and animation to create a dreamlike illusion, changing the viewers perception of reality. Why not? This is my final year after all.

Solstice Festival Branding

I recently lost my best friend to sudden adult death syndrome. Dealing with the heart-breaking grief, I decided to put all my energy into illustrations and drawings inspired by my friend Iona. This summer I’ve learnt to acknowledge the beauty of life, I decided to look at life as if it was through her eyes, and despite the heartache I decided to explore the country, walk and take in the surroundings, nature and beauty of this world, whilst I can. I decided to create a tribute festival inspired by her nature walks, bringing back her favourite artists, creating stages from her Spotify playlists, representing her style, her doodles and her favourite colours.

Solstice Festival Visuals and Stage

For my Self Initiated Project, I would like to go one step further and create the designs for the set of the festival.
I admire set designs for concerts, gigs, festivals. Using design, animation, illustration, branding, colours, lighting and combining these to create a beautiful and successful set design. I wanted to bring the festival to life.

Upside Down

Branding, Visuals and Spatial Design for an immersive night experience in London. A magical, creative theme of a parallel universe, the 'Upside Down' version of reality, a unique, fun experience accompanied by alcohol and music.

The illusion of a world where fish swim without water, humans fly through the city streets, jellyfish and dinosaurs live next door, creatures and people communicate via dancing and stars and planets float in the sky.
