Portfolio
Fellow Commuters
Fellow Commuters is a photographic collection of petri dishes generated by the compendium of bacterial samples from the London Underground.
The pieces were born from the containment of the invisible chaos that surrounds us in the world. It is a perfect balance between control, of where the specimens are collected, but also opposing this through not being able to control how the bacteria is going to manifest.
Every section is an assortment of five dishes containing bacteria from a surface of the ten main underground lines.

Azulejo
Heritage (noun) – "features belonging to the culture of a particular society, such as traditions, languages, or building, that were created in the past and still have historical importance" –Cambridge Dictionary
The aim of this project was to explore heritage through the art of the ornamental Portuguese tile – Azulejo. The iconography that this craft has had a very strong impact on Julia's creative identity. After almost 2 full years of a Pandemic, she started to appreciate what could be seen through her window and developed a great appreciation of the tiles on the Portuguese façade.
