Video Game Character and Environmental Concept Art

The objective of this project was to develop an original custom character and a personalised environmental concept art for the video game Cookie Run: OvenBreak. My goal was to produce a series of professional-level deliverables, including detailed turnarounds and finalised visual artwork, to enhance my concept art portfolio. Within the game, Cookie Run: OvenBreak, each cookie character has their own individual theme that is specific to them and their environmental background. I chose to create a cookie character and accompanying environment based on a shipwreck theme, therefore my cookie character is called Shipwreck Cookie.

Video Game Fusion: Redesigning Characters in Alternate Styles

In ‘Game Fusion’, I undertook the challenge of reimagining characters from different video games in alternative visual styles, with the aim of enhancing my drawing skills while exploring the diversity of gaming aesthetics. I specifically selected the Alchemy Cookie Character from Cookie Run: OvenBreak and transformed her using the visual style of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Carefully adapting her design through a series of experimental drawings where I explored silhouette, clothing, accessories, and colour to seamlessly fit into the charming world of Animal Crossing, this project was not only a creative endeavour but also a valuable opportunity to master various art styles and gain insights into the intricacies of game design.

Realising the importance of Alchemy Cookie’s beret hat, a key aspect of her design, I aimed to recreate it faithfully within the Animal Crossing style. I conducted a drawing experiment, exploring different hat styles to find the most accurate and fitting design for her character.

Hybrid Fantasy Creature Concept Art

This project explores the fusion of two real-life creatures, polar opposites in appearance and demeanour, into a captivating hybrid. Combining the rugged majesty of the polar bear with the endearing charm of the quokka, I crafted a fantasy creature that seamlessly blends contrasting qualities. Deliberately incorporating mischievous facial features to push the fantasy element, this concept art breathes life into a truly unique and fantastical creation. The final outcome of this project is a line art visual in black and grey.
