Biography

Hello, I’m Kelly!!!

I am a graphic designer. Through my final year, I worked most on branding identity. I tried to create different mediums, like motion graphics, 3D modelling and AR interaction. At this time, people have to learn a lot of things to avoid being replaced by new technology, this is why I am trying to explore new things and not limit myself to specific areas.

Desire to Waste

‘Desire to Waste’ is an art exhibition set to take place at the V&A museum. It aims to use art and design to draw attention to people’s desires and the waste they generate. “We desire, we buy, we use & consume, then we waste... we repeat & loop... the journey from desire to waste has become inevitable. Why?”

Design Concept:
The easiest way to understand the amount of waste people generate is to start with introspection. I began by collecting my daily waste and then reorganised and repurposed it to serve as the identity for this exhibition. I photographed waste by using different colours of lights and collaged those waste pictures into shapes. Upon closer inspection, the icons reveal themselves to be composed of waste pictures, yet from a distance, they appear as a standard recycling icon and heart shape. Through these two main visual identity icons, I can explore and design various formats for this exhibition.

Echoes Unveiled

People can experience a place through their eyes, ears, hands, feet, and various other senses. Have you ever been reminded of something by a sound? It might automatically create images in your mind. When you see a photo, do you imagine yourself being there, sensing the sound, weather, and environment? In this project, I am trying to make people know a place through hearing and visuals. I hope the sound of the video can make people who know Taiwan resonate with it, it might create some images and memories inside their heads. And for people who don’t know this place, I want the visuals to provide a general understanding of this beautiful island. It would be good if they were willing to get to know more about Taiwan afterwards, it is also what I want to achieve.

Youth Innovation Design Festival

Youth Innovation Design Festival is an event which allows young university students to show their work to the public and industry. This event is held every year in Kaohsiung City in Taiwan. Taking this event concept as my research and example, I tried to design the visual identity for the year 2024 event.

Design Concept:
“Youth is challenged, exploring and playful”. It is always a challenge to do something new, people need to keep exploring to achieve their new challenge, however, don’t forget to have a playful mind during this entire process. Youth is never going to return, so just do it.

I want to design a flexible visual design in which I need to follow the same basic and important principles and ideas that can help me explore many different visual formats. I will create visuals that can move, switch and turn flexibly and allow visual elements to fit in any deliverables by changing different directions and positions. I think it sounds quite interesting, it allows designers to create diverse designs by using the same style of visual elements. Being colourful is also an important concept in this project.
