Biography

Hey, I'm Lilla, a London-based designer with a focus on branding, poster design, 3D design, and typography.

My work ethic emphasises experimental, creative abstraction that I either apply to my experimental or commercial projects to develop visual elements for an identity, or to boost design thinking during the research process.

To enhance overall visual intensity, I approach my design practice by creating design concepts that are playfully out of line with an abstract approach. Working for Planning Unit throughout my placement year allowed me to widen my visual perception in order to reach a wider audience and progress as a designer.

Mediamelt Festival

A speculative music festival identity hosted in a digital environment.
How does your body react to music? What is the response that collectively resembles everyone? Sweating during dancing, excited to hear your favourite performer, goosebumps, and other bodily reactions.
The identity is created to generate a static motion that represents movement through textural interactions. Through a humorous puzzle-like structure, the visual allows the consumer to construct their own system. The colour scheme was carefully picked to reflect the music genre while also elevating the event

Curated Abstraction

The project calls for analysing the interaction between abstract language and organic forms with audio and 3D motion utilising abstract organic “toy”-like structures.
Is there a common childhood memory of abstract forms that we all carry into adulthood? What role does colour or shape play in conveying movement or sound? Hard plastic or wooden blocks come to mind when we think of conventional organic shaped toys. 3D motion is used to design a curated experimental scene with a range of rough textures and shapes with soft-body simulations. Soft body motions are created using a set of rules, including colour and shape, to produce a deliberately surreal, unexpected scene in motion form.

The Limitations of Still Life Scenarios

Considering inspiration is essential in showcasing value, I recreated a still-life image from two inspiring painters in the form of 3D design. Giorgio Morandi who is a still life painter and Dutch artist Tineke Stoffels who photographed still life in the style of Morandi. To elevate the concept, I recreated a scenario in the styles of the two artists to show how technology is advancing and how the same setting complements each other. What known objects and textures do you associate with the scene?
