Margarida Pereira

Biography

Olá. I'm Margarida, a multidisciplinary creative and designer from Portugal, currently based in London. I enjoy working outside of the digital bubble and explore different design approaches through analogue mediums; whenever I can combine both digital and analogue is when I thrive. Most of my work is based on colourful compositions, which are a result of my visual arts background + the design skills I've gained over the years. I'm always looking forward to expanding my creative and cultural baggage to achieve conceptual and visually strong results.

*tuga

Tuga is a pop-up exhibition focused on sharing to other communities the peculiar yet comedic world of Portuguese sayings, by translating them to the most universal language. The exhibition consists of a group of 13 posters, which are showcased through an exploration of type and shapes. The rest of the deliverables are part of TUGA’s visual identity.

In collaboration w/ Rita Viegas.

ZABA by Glass Animals

ZABA is Glass Animals’ debut album and is characterised by obscure tropical percussion, jungle timbre and experimental lyricism, taking the listener to a dreamy reality. The idea for this design results from an exploration of my thesis theme, which focused on how the human consciousness is capable of adapting dreams and mental imagery into artistic outputs.

The clay model featured on the cover was created, built and photographed by me while I was quarantined in Portugal and each one of the elements displayed in its habitat represent a song of the record. ZABA’s original icon was kept as a visual connector to the real cover’s artwork.

Caos

Caos is a creative bar/café located in Cais (Lisboa, Portugal) and inspired by Cabaret Voltaire, an artistic nightclub responsible for the creation of Dadaism. The name means “chaos” in Portuguese and results as a wordplay between the location – Cais – and the venue concept.

The purpose of this project is to offer an idea of the fictional bar/café's environment, testing the effectiveness of the relationship between design + client through elements printed on different materials. The pictures were taken at home and purposely edited to offer a warm sense of comfort, familiarity and explore a vintage analogue look.
