Natalie Chan

Biography

My name is Natalie and I am a Graphic Designer from Hong Kong and London. My strengths are Illustration, Typography and Photography. I enjoy applying my skills to different formats of design. During this course, I have been able to develop my skills in Animation and Moving Image, areas where I previously had very little experience. The themes of my work are often around my personal interests whether it be culture, music or entertainment.

VALORANT

VALORANT is a game that I’m deeply interested in, as I not only enjoy playing the game but further enjoy reading and looking at the backgrounds behind their characters as well as their abilities; the relationship between the characters in the game and the design concepts that Riot Games (Game Developer) comes up with.

In this project, I used information from a specific range of agents and their abilities to create promotional material for the game. However, as VALORANT already has its own existing promotional material in video and moving mage form, I created promotional material in a digital still-image format.

In these drawings, I added my own twist by using iconic colours that best suit the agents to make them unique and stand out. I also used iconic voice-lines of each of my selected agents so players and fans of VALORANT will be able to hear and recognise them in the posts, when they play the game.

Secrets of Hong Kong: Locations

This is an e-book guide of Hong Kong, focusing on Instagram Locations. Instagram Locations are part of a new trend where photos are taken in places with good backgrounds for Instagram posts. Sightseeing is one of the biggest reasons for tourists to visit Hong Kong. These locations would not be found in traditional city guides. This is what makes my guide unique.

Beyond this, the guide includes tips on how to get to and from these locations, tips that only a local would know.

As this is a language-based project, I put the Chinese and English versions of the location names, as well as translations for readers to learn and use this Chinese pronunciation, when asking for directions or visiting the place.
