The purpose of this editorial is to review the AIDS crisis in the United States in the 1980s-1990s, in particular focusing on graphic art and activist movements that affected women. The work was selected from the archives of the AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power (ACT UP), a diverse, nonpartisan group dedicated to fighting the AIDS epidemic through direct action.

It seems that many of the problems are still unsolved, so I think we can always learn from our past. By studying how they faced these problems in the past, we might be inspired to address them today.
