Rory Mendonca

I am a graphic designer and have worked with multiple disciplines within design throughout my course. I currently focus on User Experience design and am very passionate about accessibility and inclusivity.

I'm 23 years old and a little bit from everywhere, but I was born in Brazil and have lived in London for a long time now.

Slasher

The horror industry is extremely underrated by mainstream Hollywood, and that is evident when you look at the ratings for even the best horror movies of all time: they are always low. I saw this as a gap in the market – most people don’t know how to find good horror movies other than by going to their fellow horror fans. There needs to be a space for that! So that's what I designed.

Slasher is a UX design project made to respond to a self-initiated brief. My main priorities for this project were to create a full working prototype for a product that was practical, well designed and accessible.

Inception

For this project, I created a full title sequence for the movie Inception (2010).

Title sequences are often underestimated but are extremely important when setting the tone for a production. Some of the greatest movies of all time are recognised mainly by their title sequences, like the Star Wars movies. And on the other hand, some great movies like Inception don't have title sequences in them and leave the potential for one open.

I decided to venture into designing one for it myself.

Since the movie I was basing on already existed, I used elements from it in my design. In this image you can see the maze I illustrated based on the impossible maze that is present in the movie.

Biography
