Hey, I’m Sélina :)
I’m a multidisciplinary designer working across editorial design, photography, creative direction, typography, and storytelling.

My practice blends analogue and digital processes to explore themes of identity, culture, and nostalgia, inspired by my Lebanese heritage, environment, and personal experiences. Born and raised in Dubai, now based in London, my surroundings continue to shape and inspire my perspective I’m constantly fuelled by the people I collaborate with, community and shared experience play a big role in my practice. My creative process is organised chaos, bouncing between experimentation, new methods, and side projects. I see design as a space to explore, tell stories, ask questions, connect, and collaborate.

ROUGE

Hard Cover Perfect Bound Book
195x265 mm

ROUGE is a visual and conceptual exploration of lipstick. Moving beyond its surface function as a cosmetic, this book investigates the associations surrounding lipstick, its connections to identity, femininity, performance, and ritual.

Rooted in photography and material experimentation, ROUGE invites the viewer into an intimate world shaped by texture, colour, and form. Through macro imagery, layered surfaces, and carefully sequenced spreads, the book amplifies the physicality of lipstick, its smudges, stains, smears, and sheen. Transforming cosmetic detail into abstract, emotive landscapes.

Presented as a hand-bound hardcover book, this book is designed to be a tactile experience in itself. Blending critical inquiry with a material visual language, ROUGE uncovers the symbolic weight carried by this small yet potent object. At once intimate and iconic, it celebrates the messiness, magic, and mythology of one of history’s most enduring beauty rituals.

By blurring the boundary between body and product, ROUGE captures lipstick as a conduit for self-expression, transformation, and power, revealing moments of both control and chaos.

Backgammon Board
Wood & Acrylic | 53cm x 62cm (wood, open), 27cm x 31cm (acrylic, open)

This project explores the art of backgammon board-making through two handcrafted designs: one traditional wooden board and one modern version made from acrylic. It was an opportunity to experiment with fabrication techniques through material experimentation and personal storytelling.

Rooted in personal meaning, the boards are a tribute to and a reflection on my Lebanese heritage. Backgammon has long been part of my culture, passed down informally through generations. Alongside the boards, I created an instruction manual to make the game more accessible, especially for younger players unfamiliar with its rules.

By blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, this project bridges generations, honoring the past while inviting new audiences to connect through play.
