Hi, I’m Shuqi. I’m passionate about graphic design, book design and interaction design. In graphic design, I focus on conveying information and emotions through visual elements. Book design is another area of my interest. I believe that every book has a unique story that deserves to be presented through careful typography and cover design, so that readers can feel the power of words visually as well. Interaction design is even more of an area that I continue to explore and challenge myself. I’m ambitious for design and I’m eager to push the boundaries of traditional design to create more innovative and compelling work. I hope that through my work, I can stimulate the audience’s thinking and resonate with them. I hope I can explore the infinite possibilities in the world of design in the future.

Rose is not only for love
This is a generative design project that depicts the different life-growth stages of the rose. From budding to blooming rose. The background shows the abstract effect of thorns.
More than four hundred years ago, in the land of England, there was a ‘rose’ that bloomed proudly in the midst of the Tudor dynasty’s struggle for power and desire. She was Elizabeth I, known as the ‘Rose of England’ by the English poet Edmund Spenser, a queen full of ambition and wisdom. A female ruler who was able to turn the tide of a male-dominated age and create greatness in the face of adversity.
Roses have long symbolised beauty and love. Whether in the past, present, or future, the rose has been one of the most important flowers in human culture and life. Instead of celebrating love, the rose can be transformed into ambition and power. The rose is full of thorns and it is also proud and ambitious in its appearance. Just as femininity is gentle but not weak, noble, and elegant. Through this project design, I want to use the qualities of the rose as a metaphor for female strength.

Dedicate yourself and you will win (爱博呷会赢)
This book will introduce one of the national intangible cultural heritages of China –the custom of Bo Bing (Mooncake gambling or Mid-Autumn Festival dice game) during the Mid-Autumn Festival. This custom originated in Xiamen, Fujian Province, and is now popular in southern Fujian and Taiwan. The whole Bo Bing folk activity is based on ancient imperial examinations and official rank culture.
Every Mid-Autumn Festival, in southern Fujian and Taiwan, families or communities will spontaneously hold Mid-Autumn Festival Bo Bing activities. Participants will take turns to roll six dice, and use the combination of results to determine the prizes for participants. Bo Bing is not only a form of entertainment, but also a way of inheriting and promoting Chinese culture. It is a mix of social, entertainment and cultural heritage, and is one of the most popular and important events in southern Fujian and Taiwan.
There is a popular saying here in southern Fujian, “Dedicate yourself and you will win”, which embodies an enterprising spirit.
My understanding of this sentence is that the way of life is full of ups and downs. Only those who dare to strive can truly experience the joy of success. Striving is the key to success. Hope doesn’t come out of nowhere, it is nurtured through exploration. Victory is not handed to us, it accumulates through perseverance and is gained from failures. A wonderful life arises from the alternating cycles of failure and success. When failure blocks our path forward, we must dare to challenge it. And when success brings us joy, we must not forget the journey we’ve taken but instead continue to forge ahead with renewed determination.
Just like the Mooncake Gambling, everyone has opportunities, but not every time can we achieve good results or win good prizes. We must constantly strive and remain hopeful to bring about good luck. I’ve named this book after the spirit of Mooncake Gambling activity, “Dedicate yourself and you will win”.
