This Worldly Heavens project outcome presents my animation and supporting pieces as a pitch for a video game.
Little Fred is a PC adventure puzzle game that transports the player into a world composed of geometric shapes, audio reactive lights, and captivating sounds.
Fred is inexplicably brought deep within an intricate cave system. His splashing fall causes a travelling echo wave that catches the attention of a lonely, cave dwelling cube, who takes it upon himself to guide little Fred through the 3 levels of increasing difficulty. Eventually, reaching the surface and parting ways.
As Fred and the blue cube make their way to the surface, they journey through 3
levels, each one based on a colour scheme and geometric shape and increasing in
brightness. The gameplay mechanics rely entirely on sound. The player and characters can
only communicate with each other through “beeping”. These beeps can interact with the environment by illuminating lights, making rivers flow and directing Fred around puzzles.
The animation presents the first level, which serves to introduce the main interactive elements of “speaking” and listening and how it can interact with the environment. The rest of the level will involve a marco-polo-esque game mechanic, where the player and Fred will frequently be separated and must locate each other through beeping and looking out for lights.
