Lines through mountains
Lines Through Mountains is an online Atlas to explore borders above 1,000 m. Borders are defined as geographic and political boundaries established by governments that control the defined areas. An abstraction of political power and geographic limits. A border is nothing more than a line, visible on maps but sometimes invisible on Earth. The atlas includes vague borders, sometimes not specified, confused and in remote places.
The project is a zoom into peaceful areas on mountains, it collects 100 borders, infographics for each continent, and more than 200 photos from Google Maps and Google Earth.
Plates for Plants
Plates for Plants is a performance held by Veronica Alba in a white, pure and out-door space in nature. A five-course meal is presented through ten simple food elements (bread, tomatoes, oil, rice etc.), composed in each dish by the performer. The poetry on the plates has been thoughtfully laid out differently for each course, the numbers refer to the food element to be taken to compose the course. The performance invites people to think about their environmental food impact and the ethics behind their food consumption; also, to underline the variety and beauty of vegetables. The plates have been produced in Switzerland with the help of the ceramist Rita Denigris. The performance was held in Orvin, produced and performed by Veronica Alba, shot by Dario Pianesi and edited by Veronica Alba.
The Sound of Pollution
The Sound of Pollution is a generative installation that represents pollution through sound and senses. I coded a system where using the API from any air quality sensor, it is possible to generate the sound of pollution. In this case, I used MP10, MP2,5 and Ammonia sensors, from two cities in Lombardy, Milan and Bormio. Milan is very polluted while Bormio, in the Alps, has better air but still quite polluted. The video shows a rehearsal of the installation with some people experiencing extreme effects of pollution.
