Biography

Hi, I am Wenhui Sun. My area of focus is interaction design. I work with web interface design to showcase generating bio-plastics. I am interested in working in physical interactive installation or user experience design in the future. This past year I have been developing my skills in UI design and c4d and illustration which are shown in my projects.

The residual value of consumption rubbish

The residual value of consumption rubbish is a generation design project of bio-plastic to bring awareness to reuse and classification. It uses dice to choose colours randomly and play with pigments by methods used for creating fluid art. The mould chosen to trace the bio-plastic is the consumption rubbish found at my home which can be recycled, such as delivery packaging and parcel wrapping. Along with this I created a website catalogue to show the output of generation bio-plastic.

Eat Surprise

Eat Surprise is a conceptual installation design about the five senses to expand people’s pleasure from food, which was building on a second-year proposal about how food brings us pleasure. I researched that the pleasure from dopamine was because of the surprise of prediction rewards, that's why we have no expression when we eat a food we have already tasted before. I also discovered that our emotions are impacted by other's behaviour or sounds, this is called empathy.

The Eat Surprise installation combined both dopamine principles and empathy, the process is like playing a game. People are surprised when they guess right, and enjoy food by hearing the sound. Along with it I created an animation explaining how the machine worked.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Popular science game

Traditional Chinese medicine popular science game is a game interface design project to publicise traditional Chinese medicine culture to foreigners, improving young people's cognition of traditional Chinese medicine culture by means of games. The intention is to understand the lives of different TCM characters and the tools they use through character experience. Through this game, players can get to know the culture of TCM, meanwhile, having a better understanding of the disease and treatment methods for patients. I made a user text prototype of the game with Marvel that you can try.

I expect that through this game design, we can understand the culture of traditional Chinese medicine. Meanwhile, patients can have a better understanding of disease and treatment methods. The public can also have a cognition of the culture of traditional Chinese medicine and let the culture spread. Choosing games as an approach to delivering the culture is to make the process more interesting so that people will not feel bored when getting in touch with culture.
