Biography

Hi, I’m Yash, a multidisciplinary creative based in London, specialising in illustration, social and editorial design. My approach is driven by in-depth research and investigation alongside experimentation to develop the best possible outcome. I enjoy working with projects that provide meaning and purpose and thrive on creating a positive change for my audience. This past year I discovered my passion for illustration which I have applied and developed across different project briefs. I am interested in exploring new and innovative ways to improve my design ability and to develop my skill sets further in the future.

RE:ACT

The React project is in collaboration with Hard Edge agency based in Australia and industry partners Zurich, London TFL and FIA Foundation. The brief focuses on vulnerable road users and how to develop a campaign that creates awareness around shared responsibility for 18–25-year-olds, to positively influence their behaviours and attitudes when sharing the road. Our concept is to create puzzle pieces as a metaphor for shared responsibility and to eliminate tribal mentality, bringing each road user together when working with the road system. We created visuals that are fun and innovative to be distributed within social environments and online platforms.
One road = One responsibility.

In collaboration with Tia Alicia Jordan-White.

The building of shared responsibility in Jenga form.
The puzzle concept we applied were Jenga, jigsaw, sliding puzzle and a word search.

The Ranis

Rani in Hindi defines as Queen.

This project stemmed from my dissertation, where I focused on female representation within Hindi Cinema. The project focuses on the rise of independent women that have evolved on the silver screen without the support of a male counterpart and how they have embodied the characteristics of Hindu Goddesses Durga Mata and Kali Mata within their role. I have created three visuals that support this through illustration design where I developed posters that idolise the characters from each film. The posters are designed to correlate to their designated Goddess by use of colour, combined with the style of traditional Bollywood poster concepts.

Representations of Durga Mata, Goddess of the divine feminine who manifests in many God-like forms.
Representations of Kali Mata, Goddess of time, doomsday and death.
