Hi!๐
Iโm Elaine Tsai, a Taiwanese graphic designer whose specialist interests are brand identity, visual communication and motion design.
Inspiration usually comes from my daily life and experiences, with a strong interest in the relationship between the environment and human beings. In my projects, I use different methods of experimentation, such as the way of using geometric shapes or patterns to preserve the appearance of nature and create a visual language. Let the visual language communicate with audience and reflect on this society and environment.

Desire to Waste
This is a visual identity and brand communications for an exhibition & events series at the V&A project. Nowadays, the human desire to waste journey is inevitable. Itโs a reminder that while we pursue beauty and satisfaction, we often overlook the waste we leave behind. In this work, the main visual that catches your eye is actually the creation of materials that are collected from daily life. For example, one of the patterns is made from garlic head and foam net sleeve. Behind the beauty is the irony of the human waste of environmental resources. Just as people tend to satisfy their desires for beauty which can be in terms of packaging, shape, look, etc. but usually forget about the waste that is created behind the scenes.

Colourful Taiwan
This project is an investigation and examination of areas within the creative and communication industries. The idea for this project is to design a key visual language to introduce Taiwan. One of the designs, 85 Sky Tower in Kaohsiung, is a starting point for this project. The rainbow colour path through the design, linked to the LGBT+ Pride event, held on the last Saturday of October every year, represents the โdiversityโ of Taiwan. This is the place I was born, a country where people can be happy and free to be themselves.

Self Re-Check
This is an information design project that helped me to observe, analyse and appreciate the environment. Frequent visits to the supermarket are commonplace for many individuals. Self Re-Check is a model that visualises a week of receipts collected from the supermarket. The model displays the products I purchased and their respective positions on the shelves, adopting the floor plan of Tesco Extra from Canada Water Station as its shape. In this project, one visit is not enough; using different methods for an in-depth exploration is the key.
