Yulanxi Jiang is a multidisciplinary designer based in London, with a keen interest in editorial design and interaction design. Yulanxi is deeply attuned to social issues that impact people’s daily lives, and she is passionate about using her design skills to make a positive difference. UP & DOWN
Lifts are essential spaces that facilitate access to various places, guiding people to different destinations. However, I have observed that the environment of lift spaces varies significantly across different locations. Therefore, I aim to explore how public spaces are utilised differently by various social classes and the impact this has on individuals. My goal is to create a book that highlights this inequitable phenomenon in society, drawing attention to the disparities and calling for a more just allocation of public space.
Scent Camera
Olfaction is often one of the key senses that people use to trigger memories. For this project, I created a customised interactive installation, the Scent Camera, for three audience participants who wanted to preserve specific memories. The audience uses the toolkit to collect smells, and through my reprocessing of the smells and combining them with sound, the audience is able to recall memories again through the smells of the scent interactive installation, as if they were capturing the memories like a camera and then bringing them out again to look at them in a photograph.
