Zhixuan Chen

Hi, I am Zhixuan Chen. My area of focus is graphic design and I like to develop experimental projects. I often work with disassembling and reassembling to present my designs. In the past year, I have been developing my skills in visual methods through experimental typography and identity branding shown in my projects. I am interested in working in a studio that supports this way of working.

Changes of the state

Changes of the state are physical processes where matter moves from one state to another by melting, evaporation, boiling, or others. The project aims to explore a new version of changes of state. An object changes to another state by actions of nature or the artificial. I limited letters in the same square and changed the grids of the square. When you rotate different grids, different patterns form. I chose to make the square into 4, 16, and 12 grids to show the final typefaces.

Sharing the space is the main solution in terms of dense population and housing problems. Sharing can be defined from two aspects. One is from 'plus', such as sharing news, mood, and other non-physical things. The other is from 'minus', such as sharing a cake or anything physical. The project is based on developing the number '1' and 'minus' idea to show the concept 'share'. Different patterns changed from '1' are important elements of the design.
