Zhuguang Sun

Biography

I’m Zhuguang Sun, born in 2000, coming from China. I majored in Graphic and Media Design at LCC, University of the Arts London. During my three years of undergraduate studies, I have not only experienced and learned traditional graphic design such as advertising posters, font design, and brand image, but also been encouraged to break through my previous understanding of graphic design and try to explore and create more mature, unique, diverse, and critical visual expressions through more media and methods. My designs often start from a certain social situation and conducted research. I hope that my work can be connected with social life, reflecting the innovation and aesthetics of visual aspects, while also conveying the meaning and concept that evokes deep reflection and resonance among viewers, becoming a people-oriented design with real “core”.

SEE THE UNSEEN

Titled “SEE THE UNSEEN”, this is an experimental and playful book, primarily focused on images. This book aims to provide a new perspective and a visual way around the opposite concepts of “visible and invisible” and “clear and blurry”, exploring and breaking the boundaries between them through digital media technology. It integrates the “tampered/ altered” concepts into people’s daily lives, redefining and shaping the world that people are familiar with from three aspects: portraits, streets and buildings, and nature. Through this approach, the reader’s thinking is activated to take a new look at people, things, and the environment in the era of digital media, thereby breaking people’s inherent cognition and liberating their imagination and exploring the possibilities of this world.

FANS EMPIRE

The outcome of the project is a website to display a series of five dynamic collage posters themed “fandom culture”. The five posters are “Fans empire”, “Creating deity”, “Squandering money”, “Boosting popularity” and “Tight organisation”. By creating these five ironic and surrealistic posters, I hope to suggest that people could fall into the trap of being too obsessed with chasing stars.
